This picture is of a demonstration considered the largest in Aleppo since it joined the revolution and engaged in the popular movement through protests. It is particularly at Aleppo University, which became known as the "University of the Revolution" due to the revolutionary student activism carried out by Aleppo University students both within the campus and outside of it. The picture shows the revolutionary flag raised above the entrance of Aleppo University. Students of the university raised it in the middle of 2012, taking advantage of the presence of Arab observers and the withdrawal of the Syrian regime's intelligence services. They organized one of the city's largest demonstrations at that time, hoisting the flag of the revolution above Aleppo University's entrance as a defiant and determined expression of their commitment to the revolution. Since then, the picture has become a symbolic representation of all Syrian revolutionaries in general, specifically of the revolutionaries of Aleppo and the students of Aleppo University.
